Is your short game killing you?

Not your golf game. My short game in golf is pretty awful but is your short game killing you in business?

Are you constantly focused on quick wins, are you kinda flying by the seat of your pants and have no real strategy? Are you working with customers that, or chasing customers that you can’t really deliver for and working with these clients and these prospects that you’ll never have a chance of actually making a placement for or actually placing because you’re just focused on the next quick win?

What I wanna talk to you about is three things you can do to build a marketing plan that is set up for long-term success.

So the first thing you wanna do is focus on being relevant and you focus on being relevant by clearly identifying your target market, creating an offer that that market’s gonna resonate and position yourself as being different in that market and ultimately being the authority in that market and by doing that, that is gonna really help build out our long-term strategy and our long-term plan and so if you’re starting out or if you’re revamping, think about that. Don’t think about tomorrow’s win.

Think about next year’s win and that’s where you’ll be able to create a lot of value and that leads me into the next step is focus on value, not on revenue.

Yeah, I know that’s a tough one.

It takes a massive mindset shift because I know a lot of you are probably looking for revenue right now but if you can make it, you could set your business up and you can be a little bit more patient, maybe another month or two more patient then you’ll actually have a sustainable strategy.

So when you’re thinking about value, if you’re creating a piece of content, if you create a value-driven piece of content that the actual reader is going to gain value from rather than content that is valuable to you where maybe you’re trying to get them to take a massive action or you’re trying to manipulate them into doing something, you’re really not gonna build that long-term relationship that you looked for and we all know that the long-term relationships is where the long-term revenue comes from.

So focus on your value.

Focus on going after clients that you can actually deliver value for because it’s their happiness that will accelerate your business growth and you’ll also have a client that you can actually work with and wanna work with and again, you have that long-term relationship with, right?

The last thing is focus, create a strategy that’s gonna focus on you being top of mind.

We all know that people don’t hire right now or they’re not looking for a job necessarily right now.

There’s very few especially when you talk about marketing.

They always say two or 3% actually are ready and open and willing to receive a message at that moment.

So you need to make sure that you’re nurturing, you have a plan to nurture people for the long-term and when you put these three components together, when you focus on being relevant and really knowing your market inside and out and you focus on delivering value to that market every day and you focus and commit yourself to showing up and being top of mind every day then you have a long-term marketing strategy that will build you tons of long-term revenue and that’s what the game’s all about.

We’re always anxious in business.

We wanna grow a business today but business is really built through time.

So focus your marketing strategy on the long game.

Talk soon!
