I am Donnie Gupton and I help recruiting companies grow their business using The Relevant Recruiter Method.

I have developed a very specific methodology which provides recruiters with a steady stream of qualified candidates or job requests. As you know, to be a successful staffing agency you need to provide best-qualified candidates and working with me allows you to focus on the other aspects of the business like screening, interviewing and onboarding.

For as long as I can remember, I’ve always been obsessed with growth.

This probably has had to do with how I was raised, having always been a competitive athlete and watching my Dad run his small business for many years. I’ve always wanted more. This became more and more apparent to me into my adult years.

After wrapping up two seasons of college football at my local community college, I made the decision to walk on at the University of Nevada.

It was always my dream as a young athlete to be a Division 1 football player and this was my opportunity. As a walk-on, nobody is really in your corner beside your parents, close friends and luckily for me, my high school football coach who helped me make this happen.

I’ve never been one to let an opportunity pass me by. I believed that I could do this, despite everything working against me.

For those not familiar with what a walk-on is, it’s essentially a try out for a player to get on a team. Not one that was scouted out or awarded a scholarship.

At a University, there are a handful of walk-ons on a roster of over 100.

The first jersey I was given was #103. Completely irrelevant.

Both my Junior and Senior years at the University of Nevada, I had to earn my spot.

My Senior year, I played for Coach Ault who is an absolute legend at the University of Nevada and in the College Football Hall of Fame.

He has earned this honor by being an innovator as well as using unconventional methods to get his teams to respond.

He was kind of a lunatic (anyone that has played for him would agree with me.) So, earning my spot on that team, was no easy feat.

He taught me that you have to do whatever it takes, even if it’s unconventional in order to get the job done- in order to get a WIN.

Praise wasn’t something that we received, and I received my first and one of the best compliments from Coach Ault when I was actually all done playing.

“You had a great career. You had a great season and nobody gave you shit.”

By the end of my walk on football experience, I achieved All-Conference Academic Accolades; I was awarded the Special Teams Player of the Year and The Black-Out Award winner.

Oh and I shook the #103 jersey for #32 after only a few weeks of being in the program and recognized by my Coach and peers.

After two grueling seasons of earning my spot, I made myself relevant.

This isn’t the greatest walk-on story of all time, but it’s a story that I’m damn proud of.

This experience and the lessons it gave me has followed me into my professional career.

IT TAUGHT ME A WORK ETHIC, A COMPETITIVENESS AND THE ABILITY TO EXECUTE EVEN THE SMALLEST THINGS OVER AND OVER.

After my walk on experience in college, I went to work for my Dad’s small business that I watched him run since I was a child. Again, being obsessed with growth, I created a plan to grow it.

I realized really quickly while working with him, that if I wanted to earn more money, then I needed to learn how to generate more money.

So I was immediately obsessed with growing his business.

I tried everything… Yellow Pages, Networking Groups, Community Newspapers,

You name it, I tried it.

But along came the internet and social media.

In 2008, when the recession started, we were like a lot of companies just trying to survive.

At this time, I started learning everything I could about growing your business with internet marketing. Now, I have always been a master implementer and this was nothing different.

I committed to this approach and started implementing SEO strategies, Youtube/video strategies and leveraging social media to interact with our audience differently.

The results of these efforts were amazing.

People started coming into our store, calling our office and filling out forms on our website for appointments like crazy.

I figured it out….

Having a clearly defined target customer and creating valuable content for these customers started to attract our ideal clients to our business.

After we survived the recession and perfected this strategy, our company saw growth from under $1 million to over $6 million in a 3-year span.

This was a huge success and my Dad’s company is still reaping the benefits from these strategies. But it was never my intention to forever stay in the family flooring business, and that time had come that I was again, ready for more.

I wanted to help other businesses grow.
I’m not only interested in business growth, but I am also obsessed with personal growth as well.

Each one compliments the other.

Whether it be hiring professional business coaches or personal life coaches, or completing courses online,

I still execute and implement everything I learn in business and life for my own growth and to help others grow.

There’s no greater satisfaction than seeing my clients grow their business, which in turn, grows their finances which benefits their personal lives and their families.

As a husband and father of four, I know how important this is.

I’ve created life-long friendships and professional relationships with coaches and clients of mine, helping each other WIN.

THIS IS BUILT IN ME:

I'm obsessed with growth.

I don’t let an opportunity pass me by.

I will execute even the smallest things over and over again.

I’ll take the irrelevant to be relevant.

I’ll earn my spot and do what it takes to win. Even if it’s unconventional.

This has been no seamless journey.

I’ve made my fair share of mistakes.

But being who I am, I learn from it and I will GROW from it.

Every single one of those mistakes has made me better, my personal life better, my business better...

and ready to help others make theirs better too.
