Are you guilty of trying to be perfect?

Cause I know I was.

Do you ever think of things like I’ll launch my business when my website’s done.

I’ll publish that blog post when it’s perfect.

I’ll call the candidate when it’s the right time.

I will feel happy when I lose 20 pounds.

You ever notice these statements that there’s always when I achieve this, then I will feel this, and that’s a crummy way to live and I know that because that’s how I lived for so long.

And my pursuit of perfection was completely killing my growth as a person and the growth in my business.

See, perfection slows us down.

It doesn’t allow us to move forward quickly because we’re focused on these minute details that are, most of the time, really irrelevant. And perfection really kills our creativity because we’re so focused in, we don’t even allow any outside ideas.

And ultimately, perfection kills the way we think about our self and our self-value and self-worth because we’re never good enough.

It kills our mindset because we’re never good enough. Nothing we ever do for our self and nothing we ever do for our business or our family is good enough, and it’s exhausting.

I know, because I’ve lived that way.

And I’ll tell you, what’s freeing is focusing on progress.

When you focus on progress, it allows you to sustain motivation and momentum.

And the reason is because you can really focus on the little wins along the way.

You don’t have to focus on it being perfect.

You put it out there and make tweaks as you go along.

Progress, nothing is ever a failure because you look at everything as always something that you can learn.

And when you have this mindset of, hey, I didn’t fail at this, this is just a learning experience, you can always move forward.

But if we were focused on perfection, then we would again beat up our self, beat up our self-esteem, and we wouldn’t move anywhere forward far fast because we wouldn’t be good enough. We would already have failed at it.

When we’re focused on progress and the wins, everything can move forward and it moves forward that much faster.

But beyond even moving forward, it’s freeing to your mind.

And when your mind is free, that’s when your best growth happens.

So today, I want you to focus on progress, not perfection.
