This past April, Nevada Football started the “Pack Brotherhood” -a mentorship program.
The purpose of the program is to create a mentorship and career development program for the Juniors and Seniors on the Nevada Wolf Pack football team. The goal is to create a program with Nevada Football Alumni who can help provide insight for our Student-Athletes on life after football.
When Zack Madonick, the Assistant Athletic Director of Development reached out and asked me to be a mentor the answer was an easy “HELL YES”
Nevada Football has given me so much and I am humbled to be a part of this.
Fortunately, I was partnered with Kaleb Fossum.
Over the last few months, it has been great getting to know Kaleb.
Kaleb is a transfer from Washington State and in his first game with the Pack last year, he suffered a nasty knee injury that kept him out for the year.
But that didn’t last long. Kaleb has battled his way back on to the field and leads the team in receptions.
Currently, he is 6th in the nation in receptions and top 25 in receiving yards.
Seems to be allergic to the end zone though, but I am sure Matt Mumme, the Offensive Coordinator, has something dialed up for him soon.
My family and I made the trip to watch the Pack play this past weekend against Fresno State.
My kids were incredibly pumped to meet Kaleb and he was nothing short of awesome with them.
He took some pictures, played some catch, introduced the kids to other players and hooked my oldest son up with gloves after the game.
There’s nothing cooler than getting a pair of gloves after the football game if you are a kid.
It’s even better when the player seeks you out to make sure you get them.
There are a lot of good football players, but there are not a lot of good leaders.
Kaleb is the exact type of leader this program needs to return to the top… And stay there.
Nevada Football is not quite where we all want it to be YET, but they are certainly heading in the right direction and it is because of guys like Kaleb.
Looking forward to watching him grow on and off the field over the next couple of years.
Go PACK!!!
